The fundamental difference in the Efficiency Scenario is the large reduction in private road transport in favour of collective road and underground railway transportation. In this scenario collective methods employ a wider range of vehicles: electric car, different sized electric buses and underground railways. Thus, collective transport increases its flexibility to better adapt to the demand for mobility and provides this service to end users in much more favourable conditions than those associated with private vehicle usage.
Most of this new collective transport is different sized vehicles operated by the Smart Transport System (STS), whose mobility services can be hired by users and shared with other users.
As for the metro, where the underground network has already been developed, the STS optimises that infrastructure by extending collective transport by road to the underground network.
