APPROACHES

Energy 3.0 develops a series of scenarios, taking place in 2050, to ascertain how much energy would be consumed, which renewable energy sources would cover it and how much it would cost. The goal of the developed scenarios is to cover all services required for a functioning society with the minimal use of resources.

The study starts from a series of previous approaches, essential to achieve these goals, such as the incorporation of rapid response mechanisms and intelligence. The energy system is an integrated system –meaning it shares resources and interacts– thanks to the100% renewable electrification of the system. The study involves several paradigm shifts, with new approaches on what the most efficient solutions are, affecting, for example, meeting the demand for heating in the building sector and the roles of co-generation and low temperature solar thermal energy.
