In the Efficiency Scenario a smart transport system with efficient technology is able to satisfy all passenger and freight mobility demands with less energy consumption. By 2050, savings in energy consumption are 80% compared with a BAU Scenario and 65% if compared with 2007 consumption.

The highest energy consumption corresponds to road transport, although in the Efficiency Scenario a large reduction in demand is achieved thanks mainly to the transition towards the electric motor and the smart transportation system, which facilitates a greater occupation of vehicles. The figures show the contribution of each mode of transport to the energy consumption in both scenarios.
