The next step is to know how much energy will be needed by each mode of transport. To this end, scenarios of specific consumption trends for each different mode of transport will be developed.

The consumption for each type of vehicle is determined by the specific consumption of the vehicles used and the occupation or load factors with which they are used. The specific vehicle consumption is affected by improvements and/or technological changes, while occupation or load factors are particularly affected by the introduction of intelligence into the transport system.

To be able to deploy the full potential of STS an economic restructuring of the transport sector is needed, so that the economic benefits are no longer linked to the number of vehicles sold but to the coverage of mobility services demand with minimum energy consumption and maximum comfort for users.
