The first step in developing energy consumption scenarios for the transport sector is to start from mobility scenarios, in other words, to what extent we will need to move.

 

There are several efficiency factors to be considered in order to reach a lower demand for mobility: video conferences, telecommuting, distance or on-line education, electronic commerce, smart freight logistics, increased walking and cycling, accessibility planning, etc.

 

Grouping all these concepts together, the Efficiency Scenario proposes a reduction in demand for mobility with respect to the BAU Scenario of 12% for travellers and 20% for goods.

 

Crossing these scenarios with the mainland population scenarios adopted for this study, the scenarios of absolute mobility demand in peninsular Spain were obtained.
