In the case of hotels the Efficiency Scenario gives 82% in total savings when compared with the BAU Scenario. This percentage increases for HVAC, which, in very cold winter sites, reaches 94%. The reduction in demand for heat in the building and the high efficiency of heat pumps contribute to these considerable savings.

 

The graphs show the final energy consumption structure in Almería and Burgos for both Scenarios. In the BAU Scenario this kind of building has a large installation and lighting consumption, although both provinces have very similar HVAC requirements. In the Efficiency Scenario the contribution of installations to energy consumption is far more emphasised –which in both provinces represents 58%– since the demand for HVAC, lighting and hot water decreases.
