In educational centres the total energy consumption saving in the Efficiency Scenario is about 88% compared with BAU. The savings in HVAC for the coldest winter sites can reach to 98%. However, in the case of Almería, with more severe summers, the introduced efficiency measures fail to reduce the relative weight of consumption in HVAC, dominated by cooling requirements.

 

The figure shows the final energy consumption structure in Almería and Burgos for both Scenarios. It is clear that, even in a BAU Scenario, the demand in this type of building is dominated by lighting and installation consumption. In the Efficiency Scenario this weight in the consumption is even higher due to the reduction of the consumption related to HVAC.
